Fariborz Karimi
Whispered Dreams
Fariborz and Mona are good friends. Fariborz lives in Amsterdam, Mona in Tehran. Because of the distance between them, they send each other messages and letters. These form the starting point for Whispered Dreams, in which they take the audience on a live journey through their friendship and connection. With Fariborz on stage and Mona live from Iran, the performance explores friendship and self-censorship. Distance plays an essential role in the performance and forms an obstacle in interacting with the audience. How does a friendship survive despite great distance and different political situations?
“We are walking on a footbridge in Tehran. From this bridge you can see mountains. It's winter, so the mountains are full of snow. I remember a dream where we were singing a song. The song of the walk."
